This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Loan Underwriter. In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting and evaluating complex mortgage applications while ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures. Your expertise will directly impact the quality of loans, facilitate sound decision-making, and maintain high standards of risk management. You'll also mentor junior underwriters, support their development, and contribute to achieving optimal outcomes in the loan approval process, making a significant difference in our lending operations.

Accountabilities

• Underwrite and evaluate complex residential mortgage loans.
• Review and approve the most complex loans with sound judgment.
• Evaluate loan documents, identify exceptions, and ensure compliance.
• Coach and mentor junior underwriters, assisting in their training.
• Conduct in-depth credit analysis and manage documentation risk.
• Identify and recommend alternative loan structures and assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5-7 years of related underwriting experience.
• Strong understanding of real estate appraisals and market trends.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and risk management skills.
• Experience in underwriting complex jumbo loans.
